Album Description The international Irish music phenomenon, Celtic Woman, is renowned for singing inspirational melodies and heartwarming songs that stir fans of all ages and cultures. The 5 member Irish female ensemble (vocalists Chloe, Lisa, Alex, Lynn and Celtic Violinist Mairead) under the musical direction of David Downes, categorically defined a distinct genre by putting a modern twist on the Celtic sound. In just four short years, the group has played nine US tours, released 4 CDs, 4 DVDs and performed for close to 1 million concert-goers. The group's albums have held the #1 position on the World Music Chart while their four PBS TV specials have dominated the broadcast circuit. As a testament to the group's ability to cross musical and cultural boundaries, 2009 saw Celtic Woman perform on ABC's Dancing With The Stars singing for 23 million viewers and at the White House for The National Christmas Tree Lighting before President Obama and his family. A true celebration of Ireland, Celtic Woman's unforgettable signature style can be enjoyed by all on their brand-new PBS TV special, concert tour, CD and DVD- Songs from the Heart.

Typical CW Performance January 26, 2010 Anonymous (DC) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Those expecting another CW album shouldn't be disappointed with this one. As usual, this CD offers the same vocal styling one comes to expect from these fine ladies. Only "complaint" is that some of these songs don't sound the same as they do in the broadcast version. Also, some of the instrumentals (specifically the Isle of Hope track) don't match what most saw in their performance. Not a huge thing but something I did notice when listening to some of these tracks.
Amazing, wonderful, don't miss it February 20, 2010 Paw Print (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Can't stop listening to this cd. It just does something to my soul and my heart. My two faves are Isle of Hope and O,America - both bring tears to my eyes each and every time I hear them. I can't get enough of this cd. Should probably buy another because I'm certain to wear this one out.
If you like CW, you'll love this cd. Don't miss it.
Definitely one of my favorites February 22, 2010 Kurt A. Johnson (North-Central Illinois, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Celtic Woman is a musical ensemble comprised of five female artists (the composition of the group has changed a bit over the years). This wonderful album continues the Celtic Woman tradition of excellence with 15 interesting songs. All of the tracks are very good, with the absolute best being Goodnight My Angel - a lullaby that got me through a recent crisis in my life.
I like having nice music to listen to at work, and this album is definitely one of my favorites. While working, I love the sound of the angelic voices sweeping out of my speakers. Overall, I found this to be a great album, one that is always wonderful to listen to. I give it my highest recommendations!

Songs from the heart January 27, 2010 E. Anderson 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I can hardly believe that it has been about 5-6 years when the Irish classical/pop group Celtic Woman first came out. I have been a huge fan of the women since their self-titled album came out, thanks to PBS. Over time the group has lost two (Orla and Maev) and gained two new members in the form of Alex and Lynn. Songs from the Heart is the new Celtic Woman which features the two new members. I just bought the album today and I have been listening to it a lot. I love it. Alex and Lynn fit in perfectly with Lisa, Chloe, and Mairead. The song selection isn't exactly in the order that is seen on the PBS concert/DVD. I believe the DVD features a couple of songs not included on the album (which is often the case). What really impressed me was Chloe's voice. Her vocals have really improved in over the years. I can hear the change on the ballad "When You Believe" (one of my personal favorite tracks on the album), taken from the animated film "The Prince of Egypt". Chloe has certainly evolved from a teenage girl to a young woman. I don't know if it was really necessary to cover Sting's "Fields of Gold" since it has been covered by quite a few artists but it is still a lovely cover by the women. Other favorites includes "Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears" and "O,America". Overall Songs from the Heart is another gem from Celtic Woman. I definitely recommend it for fans of the classical/pop genre.
